Watch: Mario movie cast performs Super Mario Bros theme with Miyamoto


The cast of the upcoming Super Mario Movie have performed an acapella version of the Super Mario Bros theme with Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Keegan Michael-Key, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and Fred Armisen performed a medley of music from the original game.

The song ends with Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto performing the melody that plays when the player dies in the game.

Jimmy Fallon, The Roots & The Super Mario Bros. Movie Cast Sing Super Mario Bros. Signature tune

Fallon, who currently hosts America’s biggest talk show, is a noted video game fan, having previously included “Game Week” segments on his former show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The Nintendo Switch also made his TV debut on Fallon’s show Reggie Fils-Aime introducing the console’s handheld and docked connectivity feature for the first time in front of a studio audience.

Nintendo is celebrating today, March 10th, with new Mario-related announcements. According to Nintendo’s list of “Mario Day” events Lego hosts ‘big reveals’ on his YouTube channel.

It’s not clear if the reveal is related to more Lego Super Mario sets, a “premium” Lego Nintendo product, or something else like a discount on existing Mario sets.

DLC’s Wave 4 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also now available, adding eight courses and the return of Birdo as a playable character (as well as five empty character spacessuggests more to come).

The last trailer for The Super Mario Bros movie was also released yesterday. The new trailer contains more material from the Rainbow Road part and Luma’s Super Mario Galaxy. It also shows Donkey Kong getting a fire flower and getting his powers.

Originally will be released on the 7th. of April The Super Mario Bros movie release date has now been rescheduled for April 5 “in the US and over 60 markets around the world”, including the UK.
