Resident Evil VillageVR mode is Tent-shooting horror game for PlayStation VR2one Capcom has revealed very little after its announcement. However, its latest trailer is much more revealing, showcasing more levels and mechanics both new and old.
It begins with the widely acclaimed House Beneviento level and a monstrous baby lurking around its halls. Its following scenes illustrate some of the new systems it has offered for the transition to VR. Players can now hold a flashlight and aim it after taking it out of their jacket pocket, which goes hand-in-hand with the game’s new dual-wielding ability. The map is also now a physical object that players have to hold up, so they can no longer rely on menus to find where to go.
The inventory system allows players to not only move items around, but also place weapons in four different places on their body for easy access: shoulder, jacket pocket, back pocket, and leg holster. The knife is located on the top of the player’s left arm. There’s even a new shooting range where players can test their marksmanship. Melee attacks have also been updated as Ethan can now punch enemies and knives are now throwable.
Smaller, previously automated interactions are now opened up to the player and made more interactive. Players can explore objects by twirling them in their hand, physically place keys in doors, play the piano, and open latches and briefcases.
The DLC is still free for existing ones Village to owners and will be published on 22 February alongside PS VR2. There will also be a VR demo for those who don’t have the 2021 horror game yet.
