Forspoken developer Luminous Productions is to be merged into Square Enix


Luminous Productions, the development studio behind Saidis set to merge completely Square Enix.

Inside something Press release In a release today, Square Enix Holdings – which oversees all of the company’s businesses, including games, publishing, manga, movies, merchandise, etc. – announced the merger of Luminous with Square Enix.

“Square Enix Holdings Co announces that it will merge its wholly-owned subsidiary Luminous Productions Co, Ltd with its wholly-owned subsidiary Square Enix Co, Ltd on Monday, May 1, 2023,” the statement said.

“The merger is part of the company’s efforts to further strengthen the competitiveness of the group’s development studios, which is the goal of its current medium-term business strategy.

“Square Enix Co., Ltd. has developed numerous AAA high-definition games and has a wealth of intellectual property rights and content. Luminous Productions Co., Ltd., meanwhile, is equipped not only with AAA title development capabilities, but also with technical expertise in things like game engine development.

“Combining the two entities will further improve the group’s ability to develop HD games.”

Luminous then issued its own statement on Twitter, announcing that it is still working on Forspoken content, including a previously announced patch aimed at improving the game’s performance, and a DLC called In Tanta We Trust planned for the summer.

“Starting May 1st, our talented team will join Square Enix to bring new, innovative gaming experiences to players around the world,” Luminous said in a statement.
