Elden Ring DLC Announced

Elden Ring shook up the industry nearly a year ago, and while it didn’t exactly coincide with its anniversary, FromSoftware celebrated the event by announcing the RPG’s first major expansion. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Earth Tree is the name of its debut DLC, and will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in the future.

The announcement above didn’t come with any kind of release window or price, and didn’t say what’s in the DLC or how big it will be. From only stated that it is now under development.

Some users are looking for details in the image above. However, From did not specifically specify. For example, some think that Malenia’s brother Miquella or her alternate personality St. Trina is the person who rides the Torrent. Some also speculate on the distant tree and think it could be a Haligtree, a failed Erdtree Malenia tried to plant and wrap around the Erdtree.

This is the first official confirmation of the DLC, but it was a bit clearer Elden Ring was on his way. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki said at The Game Awards in December 2022 in his Game of the Year acceptance speech that he wanted to do “multiple things” in the game. Almost all of From’s soulslike games have also received at least one expansion. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was the only one that didn’t get paid DLC because it didn’t get a major free update until about a year and a half after release that added two new modes and some outfits.
