How do you change the look of your home? Disney Dreamlight Valley?
This is a question that players have been asking since the game was released, but it wasn’t possible… until now.
With the February 16, 2023 update, players can now finally apply different skins to their house, allowing them to change its appearance.
Less clear is how to actually change the skin of your house. That’s where this guide comes in – how to change the design of your house in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Disney Dreamlight Valley – Where to find new house skins
When you download the February 2023 update, the game immediately gives you a few new house skins, you just probably didn’t realize it.
This means you can change the look of your house instantly if you want – although it should be noted that the new skins you get right away are just colors from the existing Gablefront House design of green, white, blue, purple and orange.
Alternatively, house skins can be found elsewhere – at the time of writing, they are the first to be found in the new Premium Shop, where you can buy a Palace design for your home (though this costs a Moonstone, which can cost real money).
Once you have the skin you want for your home, you can apply it. It’s the one thing that’s not immediately obvious, but here’s how to do it.
Disney Dreamlight Valley – How to skin a new house
It might not make the most sense, but to change the look of your house in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you have to go through the same steps as moving it.
This means you need to run to your house, press the Inventory button (with Y on Xbox), scroll down to Furniture and cancel it to enter world edit mode.
Then move the cursor to your home and select it (with A on Xbox). You will see a new option at the bottom of the screen that says “Replace”.
Press the corresponding button (X on Xbox) and you will see a list of house skins. If you haven’t collected any new ones, this should only be five alternate colors.
When you do this, you need to position your house as if it were new. If you’re just changing the color, it’s easy – just put it where it was before (unless you want to move it, of course).
However, if you bought the Palace from the Premium Shop, it is much larger than the default house design, so you may have to move some stuff out of the way before it fits.
