Over the weekend, wrestling fans were surprised to learn that Best Buy released a new AEW Fight Forever release date. By to the shop page For the game, it was now scheduled to be released on Friday, March 31st.
After speaking with multiple sources, Insider Gaming has learned that the date is “most likely” just a placeholder. No definite release date has been set. One source even said that no release date has been announced to the PR teams of everyone involved. If it was due to be released in just over a month, the parties would have been told by now.
It should also be noted that at the time of release, Best Buy is the only game that sells the game released on March 31st.
PAX East is the next big show that THQ Nordic is scheduled to attend. However, it is currently believed that AEW Fight Forever will not be at the show, which will take place on the 23rd-26th. March. That’s not to say that some information won’t be released, but the game itself likely won’t be seen or played in any way on the show floor.
One person close to the game said that release plans can always change, but they would be “more than surprised” if the game launched at that time but wasn’t brought to the show a week earlier. There is always the possibility of shadowing, but once again the marketing and PR teams are informed of these plans well in advance.
AEW Fight Forever is set to release later this year, with all signs pointing to the first half of 2023. The game is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
